Gym-Kat’s Recreational Program is designed to teach school age children from the age of 5 up to adults basic to advance tumbling with strength and flexibility. Athletes will learn several skills and skill combinations on the trampoline, tumble trak, double mini, and tumbling floor.
If your child has never taken gymnastics before, level one is where they will all begin. No prior training is required to enter this class. This class offers structured introductions to beginner gymnastics skills on tumbling, trampoline, and double mini. Athletes in this class will learn the mechanics of fundamental skills, the appropriate terminology and description of skills. On tumbling, they will learn cartwheels, hand stands, and other inverted skills. On trampoline, they will learn how to correctly bounce and how to execute skills like tucks, straddles, and pikes in the air. On double mini, they will learn how to transition from running to, and bouncing on an elevated surface all while performing essential entry level skills. The emphasis on this class is to learn the progressions required to practice harder skills and advance into higher level classes.
Recreational Tumbling & Trampoline is our program that offers progression based classes which require the completion of each level to advance into the next level. We offer classes from Level 1 to Level 3+. Each athlete will have their skills tested, monitored, and charted and will be presented with a certificate of completion when the coach feels that they are ready to move into the next level. Athletes in these classes will be working towards stringing together multiple consecutive skills on all three events and eventually introducing twisting and spinning into their skills.
Students must have a clean and solid cartwheel, round off, and handstand to enter this class. This class is for athletes that are focused on mastering a back handspring on tumbling. This class consists of skills and drills required to attain the correct body position for an unassisted back handspring. This class’ emphasis will be on a Standing Back Handspring.
Students must have a clean, solid, and unassisted standing back handspring on ground floor & a round off back handspring on tumble trak. This class is for athletes that are focused on mastering multiple back handsprings and/or back tuck and higher on tumbling. This class consists of conditioning, running drills, jump drills, set drills in order to achieve the above skills.
